April, 2026

Welcome to Spring in the Black Hills! This is a beautiful and fun time of the year. Flowers coming up and yardwork and home chores. I’ve stayed busy this winter. I traveled with family to Texas for Christmas and to Arizona for my brother’s birthday. I continue to love my volunteer job at the Dahl Arts Center, including a three week event giving tours to hundreds of third graders from the area. I’ve also been working on a bit of a vanity project to put together a collection of love poems I wrote in high school and college. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it but it is a great time capsule of first loves and early heartbreaks.

I am honored to have new poems included in two publications. I have a poem called “Off Grid” in a just released anthology called Our South Dakota (available on Amazon). I just finished reading it and must say it is truly a love letter to South Dakota. Also, a poem called “Time Piece” is included in the new Oakwood, published by South Dakota State University (available at https://openprairie.sdstate.edu/oakwood/).  My book is still available on Amazon, and for locals, at The Haberdashery at Johnson Siding. I’m also excited to announce my book is now available at Homestead Studio, an eclectic art and gift shop located in Hill City.

Enjoy the summer and write on!
